Virgin Voyages harks back to Richard Branson’s musical heritage

A record shop and karaoke lounge are among the latest features to be confirmed for Virgin Voyages’ first ship.


Voyage Vinyl and The Groupie private karaoke and gaming lounge on 2,770-passenger Scarlet Lady, which sets sail next year from Miami, hark back to the Virgin brand’s musical roots.


Performances by up-and-coming and established artists are promised as part of the ship’s first season.


Grammy and Oscar-winning DJ, songwriter and record producer Mark Ronsonis to make four performances at the line’s Beach Club at Bimini in 2020.


DJ and producer MK (Marc Kinchen)has committed to one performance in 2020 while Grammy-nominated electronic music duo Sofi Tukker will join the Virgin Voyages residency scheme.


Voyage Vinyl will include personal listening stations with the shop selling limited-edition albums and special editions alongside music magazines, headphones and record players.


The outlet will also double as a performance spot for live sets by resident DJs.


The Groupie has been designed as a modernist take on a Japanese-style karaoke room plus gaming and films.
