Uniworld reveals details of new Douro River vessel

Images of one of four new Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection vessels to launch next year have been released.


The São Gabriel will join fellow ships Sphinx, Mekong Jewel, and La Venezia in 2020.


São Gabriel will sail on the Douri River in Portugal as part of an 11-day itinerary from Lisbon to Porto.


Uniworld’s other new ‘super ships’ will operate in Vietnam and Cambodia, Egypt and northern Italy.


Mekong Jewel and Sphinx are due to enter service in early January, followed by La Veneziain March.


Company president and CEO Ellen Bettridge said: “Expanding upon our commitment to transform our entire fleet to super ships in the coming years, we’re thrilled to share a first look at the stunning São Gabriel.


“Evoking a fresh new design inspired by the majestic landscapes in Portugal and adorned with gorgeous Portuguese tiles, the São Gabriel will bring the destination to life for our guests, while maintaining the highest calibre of service and personalisation.”
