This property will join the hotel group’s portfolio, which currently includes: Marbella Club Golf Resort and Spa and Hotel Puente Romano in Marbella; Schlössle Hotel, Tallinn; and Grand Palace Hotel, Riga.

The new hotel is two hours drive from Marbella Club Golf Resort & Spa which has allowed them to create a ski and sun package with two nights at each hotel.

And if lifts are closed due to bad weather guests at the ski lodge will be transferred to the Marbella Club.

El Lodge is unique in Sierra Nevada as the only luxury ski-in/ski-out property.

Area general manager Franck Sibille said: “With a rich skiing heritage it was only a matter of time before Marbella Club Hotel Group would acquire a ski property in Sierra Nevada.

“After a meticulous search we have found a property that will flawlessly deliver the service and unique experiences to which our hotel guests have become accustomed and I challenge anyone to find a better location in Sierra Nevada to enjoy winter sports.”

The site of the hotel was originally earmarked for King Juan Carlos and although his dream property was never built.

The group has spent more than 1.5 million Euros on a refurbishment led by interior designer Andrew Martin.

It has just 20 rooms, in order to retain the feel of a private chalet, and can be booked by room per night or in its entirety for private parties.

Ski rental is managed in-house and there are services such as boot warming and outdoor slippers. It also has a kids’ club, children’s ski classes, a spa that includes a sauna, Jacuzzi, Hammam, four treatment rooms, a heated outdoor pool, a Jacuzzi and a sun deck.?
