Silversea reveals details of ‘game-changing’ Evolution-class ships
Silversea has branded its next class of ships as “game-changers” in luxury cruising, as the line reveals plans to nearly double capacity within the next five years.
Silver Evolution and a second sister ship are due to join the fleet in 2023 and 2024 respectively, and will be “slightly bigger” than latest flagship Silver Moon (pictured), which holds 596 passengers. They will also feature new sustainable technology designed to reduce environmental impact.
Peter Shanks, managing director of UK, Ireland, Middle East and Africa, said: “In 2023 and 2024, we will have our two Evolution ships – they will be the game-changers in ultra-luxury and expedition cruising.
“We’re not saying too much about it now – I’ve seen some of the plans and they are amazing. But I think it will give our travel agent partners something to talk about.
“It’s the next generation of ultra-luxury cruising. They’ll definitely get noticed.”
The ships will feature eight restaurants along with new culinary programme Salt (Sea and Land Taste), which debuted on latest flagship Silver Moon and is designed to immerse guests in the food and drink of the areas they are sailing in.
Barbara Muckermann, chief commercial officer for the Royal Caribbean Group-owned line, said: “Silver Evolution is our second collaboration with the Royal Caribbean new building group, but it’s the most profound.
“It’s a ship that’s shaped around the gastronomic experience, but what the group brought to the table is an incredible investment in sustainability.
“The propulsion of the ship will be the most environmentally friendly, within current technology, along with waste water treatment and so on.
“Evolution will be ground-breaking in sustainability.”
She added that with new ships Silver Moon, Silver Dawn (due to launch in November) and Silver Evolution, the line would almost double its capacity by 2026.
