ONYX to open Sri Lanka and Malaysia properties in 2020

ONYX Hospitality Group has announced plans to open 10 new properties by the end of 2020, including new Amari hotels in Sri Lanka and Malaysia.

Amari Colombo (pictured) is set to open in June next year and will be the group's fifth property in Sri Lanka.

The 28-storey high structure will boast 11 different room and suite categories, as well as an executive lounge, conference spaces and central city location for both business and leisure travellers.

Meanwhile, Amari SPICE Penang in Malaysia will provide 453 rooms in a tower connected to Setia SPICE, the world’s first hybrid solar powered convention centre, in the Bayan Lepas district of Penang.

The complex incorporates a 10,000-seat events arena, aquatic and sports centre, and a lifestyle and retail village.

Next year’s scheduled expansion follows the news that ONYX will open its first hotel in Japan in 2024.

Amari Niseko will be a year-round resort ideal for skiing in the winter and hiking and biking in the summer, with 126 rooms and a “transitional” restaurant and cocktail bar.
