Mandarin Oriental launches Abercrombie & Kent partnership

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is working with Abercrombie & Kent to offer ‘unique’ local experiences – from dining with an astronaut to exploring Thailand with an archaeologist.

The new partnership will feature culinary and fashion tours, and VIP access to sporting events and galleries.

Geoffrey Kent, chief executive, chairman and founder of Abercrombie & Kent, said: “A&K and Mandarin Oriental are old friends. For decades our guests have stayed at Mandarin Oriental properties around the world – enjoying its exemplary hospitality in the best locations.

“This natural partnership will allow guests to experience the A&K difference – insider access that nobody else can provide, creating memories that last a lifetime.”

Kristin Ruble, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s brand and experience marketing senior vice-president, said: “A&K are a renowned global travel brand and these are unique experiences curated by them and exclusive for Mandarin Oriental’s guests.”

The combined room-and-experience or suite-and-experience packages include the chance to “indulge your inner Indiana Jones” and travel by helicopter from Bangkok to the old capital of Thailand – Ayutthaya – and explore the ancient city alongside an acclaimed archaeologist.

In Hong Kong, guests can explore Chinese art with A&K experts, Yim and Fung Ming-Chip, or sail in Victoria Harbour on a wooden junk.

In Milan, there is the chance to have a private viewing of Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper before a dinner in Basilica di Santa Maria delle Grazie, while guests in Paris can have an exclusive tour of the Louvre with A&K’s art historian.

Sports fans can have a VIP visit to FC Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium, and dine with one of the players or have VIP access to meet the stars of the New York Knicks before taking their exclusive courtside seats.

The Miami packages offer the chance to dine with an astronaut at the Kennedy Space Centre.

Prices vary according to each suite and room in each hotel.
