LUX* Resorts & Hotels reveals second Maldives property

LUX* Resorts & Hotels has opened a second resort in the Maldives.

The Mauritius-based hotel operator, which already owns LUX* South Ari Atoll, is hoping its latest property will signal a new wave of Maldives offerings, moving away from the thatched-roofed villas that have become synonymous with the area.

LUX* North Male Atoll will instead boast 67 contemporary, double-storey penthouses channelling Miami Beach vibes thanks to styling by Singaporean design house Miaja.

“We are so excited to be opening a truly different resort which dares to get away from what we call the 'sea of sameness’ with a thoroughly original approach to a luxury Maldivian holiday,” said The Lux Collective’s chief operating officer Dominik Ruhl.

“This is part of our intention to create an exceptional Maldivian experience for those wanting uncompromising personal service and first-class facilities as well as unexpected touches and a light-hearted atmosphere."

Residences either sit right on the beach or over the water with large living areas and roof decks.

The resort boasts three restaurants, a beach club and an over-water spa where guests can enjoy treatments including an aromatherapy scalp or foot massage.

For those seeking adventure, LUX* North Male Atoll is home to a PADI dive centre and can also offer watersport activities such as jet-skiing, SUP sessions, kayaking and flyboarding, as well as private yachts for charter.
