Latin America trade show reveals speakers and seminars

Wellness, adventure and luxury travel are three key sectors which will be under the spotlight at Experience Latin America (Ela) 2019 in London (June 10-12).

Run by the Latin American Travel Association (Lata), the B2B event brings key suppliers from Latin America to meet buyers from the UK and Europe.

This year’s event has a new interactive format for its seminars aimed at creating “a dialogue about key trends and issues relating to Latin American travel”.

Also new for 2019 are daily breakfast seminars ahead of the official meetings programme.

The breakfast briefing on June 10 will study booking statistics and trends, and the briefing on June 11 will see an overview of the UK travel market.

The third and final breakfast briefing on June 12 will update delegates about Lata’s sustainability charter, which was launched at Ela 2018.

The afternoon seminars will be introduced by Dr Raj Joshi – an adventurer, expedition leader and managing director of the Transformational Travel Council (TTC).

On June 10, he will be joined by Jorge Perez – founder and owner of Tierra del Volcan, an eco-tourism and adventure travel company based in Ecuador – to discuss wellness in the luxury market.

The June 11 seminar will look at the adventure travel market, with a focus on extreme adventure in Colombia from Juliana Torres, senior tourism specialist at ProColombia, the Colombian government body responsible for promoting tourism.

The final day (June 12) features a seminar about how sustainability is a driving force with luxury travellers, with a spotlight on the Brazilian Amazon.

It will feature Jorge Perez again, along with Martin Frankenberg, managing partner of Matuete – a luxury travel company based in Sao Paulo, and president of the Brazilian Luxury Travel Association (BLTA).

Agents are invited to attend Ela for the first time this year, as the event is now under the management of Travel Weekly parent company Jacobs Media Group.

The trade show is also being held in a new venue – Chelsea Football Club – and will see more than 5,600 meetings between 150 exhibitors and 400 buyers.
