Kuoni sets £20,000 target for charity partner Mind

Kuoni aims to raise £20,000 over the next two years for Mind, which will be the Surrey-based operator’s official company charity.

Angela de-Smid, human resources manager at Kuoni, said: “We have chosen Mind following an employee vote. We felt that as a company, we could benefit from Mind’s support and knowledge and at the same time be able to raise funds and awareness.”

Members of staff held their first charity committee meeting last week to discuss ideas for fundraising events such as a Christmas quiz and summer ball.

There will also be advice for staff about nutrition and how food can affect mental well-being, and a focus on World Mental Health Day (October 10).

“We’re planning various activities throughout the day at Touristik House and Kuoni’s retail stores including, a meditation session, bake sale and rounders in the park,” said De-Smid.

“We also have a monthly lottery draw which we manage through our payroll to raise funds.”

As part of the two-year corporate partnership, there will be regular updates from the charity with advice and support for fundraising activities, such as Mind-branded promotional items.

De-Smid added: “By supporting Mind, we are helping them on their mission to get support and respect for everyone experiencing a mental health problem.

“We also think it’s important that it is an employee-voted charity which the employees can get behind and support.”
