JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa slated for summer opening

JW Marriott Hotels has confirmed its newest property in the Maldives will open this summer.

JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa, located on the island of Vagaru in the Shaviyani Atoll, will open its doors to guests in July under general manager Marc Gussing.

The luxury arm of Marriott International hopes the 61-villa property and its facilities will bring “fierce competition” to the region.

The resort features a JW-branded spa and kid’s club, an over-water gym, an open-air yoga pavilion and adults-only areas, as well as a dedicated water sports and dive centre complete with an on-site marine biologist.

The resort is also home to five restaurants, three bars, a wine cellar and a chef’s garden.

Guests can choose from five villa categories, ranging from beach residences to over-water apartments. Each villa has its own private pool.

Nightly rates start from USD $886 (approximately £672) in an Overwater Sunrise Pool Villa based on double-occupancy on B&B basis.
