First Seabourn expedition vessel named

The first of two new Seabourn expedition vessels has been named Seabourn Venture.

The name is a tribute to the line’s remote destinations excursions programme called Ventures by Seabourn.

Seabourn Venture is scheduled to launch in June 2021, with a second and yet-to-be-named sister ship slated for delivery in May 2022.

In 2013, Seabourn began offering expedition experiences during its first sailing to Antarctica.

Seabourn said the success of these experiences prompted the decision to launch a dedicated programme of optional experiences named Ventures by Seabourn, featuring Zodiacs, kayaks and guided hikes.

Details about Seabourn Venture’s itineraries and booking availability will be released in spring 2019.

Seabourn Venture will sail in the Arctic in late summer 2021, with a full summer season in Antarctica to follow.

Richard Meadows, Seabourn’s president, said: “The name Seabourn Venture is an exciting step in the process of launching even more immersive voyages designed specifically for the expedition traveller who dares to go beyond the norm in terms of destinations and experiences they seek.”
