Explora Journeys unveils wellness concept on first ship Explora I

Yet-to-launch luxury cruise line Explora Journeys has unveiled the wellness facilities and experiences on its first ship Explora I.

The line said its Ocean Wellness concept would offer guests the chance to “slow down, optimise their wellbeing and find a renewed sense of calm and centredness”.

Explora I, whose maiden voyage will take place next May, will have a dedicated wellness space featuring a spa, indoor and outdoor wellness areas, contemporary fitness facilities, and an outdoor sports court and running track. 

Experiences, programmes and spaces will be “designed to enhance the ocean’s influence on wellbeing” and will span all aspects of wellness from sleep to nutrition.

The spa will be home to 11 treatment rooms, including two private spa suites with their own outdoor relaxation area, one double and seven single treatment rooms, a treatment room dedicated to specialised Medi-Luxe treatments by cosmeceutical company Dr Levy Switzerland, and an outdoor space for guests to relax. 

A beauty studio with a “flowing” layout with include a hair salon for hair and barber treatments and a nail salon offering bespoke hand and foot treatments. 

At the Sensorial Therapeutic Circuit, guests will find an array of facilities including a thermal wellness area, a hydrotherapy pool, steam room, Finnish sauna, salt cave, experience shower, ‘ice fall’ and heated marble loungers. 

Alongside Dr Levy Switzerland, whose products help stimulate the body’s source of collagen production, Explora Journeys has partnered with a range of brands, including British luxury wellbeing brand Aromatherapy Associates, whose therapies naturally promote better sleep, reduce stress and restore energy, and The Tides Wellness, a Dutch brand who uses 100% natural ingredients. 

On the fitness front, the line has partnered with Technogym which offers smart equipment features, innovative biomechanics and digital technologies.

Indoor and outdoor facilities will include a fitness centre offering fitness assessments and Technogym Artis equipment; a fitness studio, home to tailor-made classes designed exclusively for Explora Journeys; a running track encircling the ship; and a sports court for touch tennis, half-court basketball or yoga ritual experiences.

There will also be in-suite fitness options for guests to train in their ocean-front suite or on their suite terrace via a virtual coach – an offering made possible by strength-training station Technogym Bench and Technogym Case Kit, which includes QR code access to a digital library with guided video exercises. 

Explora I will have a keen focus on yoga and will offer a host of yoga programmes, including energy flow power classes, sleep yoga, relaxation yoga, mindfulness yoga and immune-boosting yoga.

Guests of Explora I will also be able to make use of tailor-made consultations and retreat programmes ranging from sleep to nutrition.
