Crystal Cruises restructures sales team following Andrew Magowan departure

Stephen Joyner will be promoted to senior sales manager at Crystal Cruises amid a restructure of the line’s sales team.

The move comes following the departure of Andrew Magowan, vice-president of sales for the UK and EMEA, who left the line today (May 31).

Joyner (pictured) joined Crystal Cruises in January as sales manager for the UK and Ireland after a four-year stint at A-Rosa River Cruises.

Crystal Cruises said it would also expand its sales team, with the addition of three new regional sales managers who will focus on specific territories within the UK and Northern Ireland.

Speaking to Travel Weekly, Camille Drevillon, chief strategy officer of parent company Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group, said the restructuring came as Crystal Cruises focused on rebuilding its clientele in the UK market.

“It’s been a very competitive market, so part of the restructuring is aimed at having a very strong presence on the ground to get in front of agents,” said Drevillon.

“The face-to-face is critical. They [agents] want to know who the people are and have a direct line to Crystal.”

To further incentivise the UK market, Crystal Cruises recently launched its first UK brochure.

Drevillon said: “For a lot of people on the high-end side, until you have something physical that people can look at and they can see the high quality and that it’s operational, it’s hard to visualise.”

She added: “After the US market, the UK and extended European market is number two for Crystal. There’s so much potential for the UK.”
