Connections Adventure event heads to the Azores

Global networking specialist Connections will hold its second event focused on luxury adventure travel in the Azores (October 27-30 2019).

Partners for Connections Adventure 2019 are Turismo de Portugal and Grand Hotel Açores Atlântico.

The networking event is aimed at leading luxury buyers and suppliers who offer travel experiences with a strong adventure element.

Connections Adventure 2019 will welcome up to 80 selected decision-makers who will take part in experiences such as nature walks, trekking to the King’s View Lookout, a whale-watching boat trip and a tour of the tea plantation at Plantações de Chá Gorreana.

The programme will also include an educational element, studying trends and challenges facing the market, along with talks from pioneers in adventure travel.

António Padeira, director of Turismo de Portugal, said: “This is a very exciting event for Portugal as it is providing us with a unique opportunity to showcase our country as a stand-out luxury adventure destination.

“Working in collaboration with Connections will open up a wealth of opportunities for us in adventure tourism as, until now, the Azores remains something of a hidden gem.”

Micaela Giacobbe, founder of Connections, added: “Home to some of the country’s greatest natural wonders, including crater lakes, steaming volcanic waters and dramatic landscapes, the Azores is a destination that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of adventure.

“We can’t wait to invite all of our valued buyers and suppliers to this event where they will be able to forge life-long business relationships over unforgettable experiences.”

The Connections platform offers networking events which focus on sectors including luxury, wellness, meetings and weddings, and the inaugural Connections Adventure event was in Slovenia in 2018.

Connections is part of B2B media company, Jacobs Media Group, which also publishes Travel Weekly.
