Anantara Veli Maldives Resort to reopen following renovation

Anantara Veli Maldives Resort will reopen for the festive season on December 1 following a nine-month renovation.

All villas at the adult-only property have been fully refurbished in a tropical style that is both traditional and contemporary, according to the brand. Accommodation features a natural palette of wood and stone, as well as cool fabrics, rattan finishes and high-tech amenities.

A new room category has also been introduced. The property now features six Beach Pool Villas, the island’s top accommodation, home to a private pool, direct beach access and a dedicated Villa Host.

The relaunch of Anantara Veli Maldives Resort also includes a new wellness concept, the Wellness Villa experience. The personalised offering sees a guest's villa enhanced with light, sound and scent therapy and equipped with Ayurvedic spa amenities, an ‘earthing mat’ for meditation and a wellness minibar stocked with herbal teas, healthy shakes and wholefood snacks.

All Wellness Villa stays include a wellness consultation upon arrival, daily fitness or yoga sessions and a healthy cooking class. Guests opting for the package can also enjoy 20% savings on treatments at the spa, Balance Wellness by Anantara, which features a new hammam.

The renovations also saw the installation of a new restaurant, Cumin, which showcases Indian Ocean cuisine such as Maldivian curries, spicy seafood dishes from Sri Lanka and vegetarian specialities from India. Cumin joins newly renovated contemporary Japanese restaurant Origami and oceanfront Dhoni Bar.

Vegetables served at all the island’s restaurants will come from a new on-site hydroponic farm, which Anantara claims is the Maldives’ first vertical farm with organic, year-round harvests. Produce includes different species of lettuce, tomato, microgreens, herbs and pepper.

General manager Giles Selves said: “We are excited to relaunch Anantara Veli Maldives Resort after such a major renovation and in doing so, introduce our new top room category of Beach Pool Villa along with innovative new developments, including our new holistic wellness villa concept and our own hydroponic farm producing the freshest vegetables for our guests.”
