Aman has confirmed plans to launch a sister brand called Janu.
Meaning ‘soul’ in Sanskrit, the new brand will focus on connecting guests with their surroundings.
Three properties are already under construction for the Janu brand - one in Montenegro, another in AlUla in Saudi Arabia and the third in Tokyo.
Janu Montenegro will be the first to open its doors with all three slated for 2022 opening.
In a press statement, the company said Janu would share Aman’s commitment to offering unparalleled service. It added: “Janu has crafted a complementary path where genuine human interaction, playful expression and social wellness are at the core of the experience.”
Chairman and chief executive Vladislav Doronin said: “The overlap between Aman and its sibling is mutually beneficial; together they offer a total solution for the fluctuating needs and desires of today’s global travel cognoscenti. We saw a white space in the market, and we want to push the hotel industry into a new sphere.
"What with today’s modern fast-paced society, which has seen human connection and communication redefined by the digital world, we wanted to create a new hotel brand with a soul and with the aim of kick- starting human interaction again.”
Highlighting the differences between Aman and Janu, the brand said that while Aman meant ‘peace’ in Sanskrit, Janu means ‘soul’. The hotel group describes Aman as a sanctuary offering respite, while Janu stands for connectedness and will offer a more energetic vibe.
