Six Senses to open eco-resort in Zimbabwe in 2025

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has revealed plans to open a riverside game reserve and wellness resort within Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls National Park.

Six Senses Victoria Falls will front Princess Elizabeth Island on the approach to the largest waterfall in the world and is slated to open in 2025.

The property will feature a series of stilted wooden structures connected by raised walkways and bridges to ensure the “lightest possible footprint” on the environment.

The resort will house 22 lodges with private terraces, 15 deluxe lodges with suspended pools and 17 individual pool villas, nine of which offer multi-bedroom accommodation.

Six Senses said the partially concealed, tree-level lodges and villas would be “ecological, tactile and understated” to provide a “bird’s-eye platform” to the surrounding nature and wildlife.

Guests will arrive at the property via the welcome pavilion before being transferred to the lounge lobby, where amenities include a raised restaurant and lounge, speciality dining, a braai bar and a sunset look-out bar.

The Six Senses spa and wellness facilities will offer four treatment rooms, a gym, a yoga deck, outdoor hot pools, a panoramic sauna and an integrated retail and concept store. There will also be a real-life ‘jungle’ gym where guests will be accompanied by a ranger.

Other on-site signature experiences include an Earth Lab, Alchemy Bar and Grow With Six Senses children’s activities.

Six Senses Victoria Falls forms part of The House of Chinhara initiative, which aims to rebuild tourism to Zimbabwe by enhancing the region’s accommodation count and quality as well as providing host accommodation facilities and hospitality training opportunities.

Victoria Falls comprises five individual falls, four of which are located in Zimbabwe. The area is known for elephants, hippos, buffalo, big cats and primates.
