Private aviation firm Welojets increases UK presence

Private aviation company Welojets is expanding its presence across Europe, with a particular focus on the UK market.

The firm now operates from major UK hubs such as Heathrow and Gatwick, as well as other regional airports including Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh. Welojets also offers flights from remote airports that are only accessible by private aircraft, such as Inverness, Newquay and the Shetland Islands.

The expansion follows the recent addition of the company’s first owned aircraft. The Gulfstream G550 will be used for services across Europe.

The wider fleet offers access to 7,300 aircrafts worldwide, including private jets and helicopters.

Welojets chief executive Alfredo Lisdero said: “Our presence in the UK is a significant milestone. The business aviation sector in the country has surpassed 15% of pre-pandemic charter flight volumes, presenting a substantial growth opportunity.

“This aircraft [the Gulfstream G550] will strengthen our operational capacity and will improve the travel experience for our customers, consolidating our presence in the competitive UK market.”

The announcement follows a successful few years for the company, with a growth of 34% reported in 2023 and a predicted growth of 42% for 2024.

Welojets is also currently working in collaboration with the Uefa European Football Championship, offering private flights and charter services to transport groups of 50-180 passengers between matches. Lisdero said the company was expecting a “significant increase” in bookings during the sporting event.
