Mandarin Oriental to open first hotel in Rome

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is developing its fifth property in Italy, with a hotel in Rome set to open in 2026.

The property will be located within The Gardens of Sallust, an ancient Roman archaeological site close to some of the city’s cultural attractions.

The 108 guest rooms and suites will be housed across 10 19th-century villas, many of which will feature private gardens and terraces.

The property will have six restaurants and bars including al fresco dining, a standalone concept in one of the villas and a rooftop venue.

Guests can also enjoy a spa which will be home to fitness facilities, indoor and outdoor pools and a sundeck.

Group chief executive Laurent Kleitman said: “We will take a meticulous approach in Rome as we have with our other historic properties ensuring that we honour and respect local artisanal craftsmanship and Roman cultural heritage, while incorporating the finest luxury, contemporary comfort, sustainability standards and the legendary service for which Mandarin Oriental is renowned.”
