Hotel brand Joali Maldives appoints new business development director

Luxury hotel brand Joali Maldives has recruited Dominic Smith as director of business development for Europe.

Smith joins from Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, where he spent nearly five years as regional director of sales for the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia. He left Six Senses in February when the company confirmed it would no longer have a brand-dedicated sales force in the UK market

Prior to Six Senses, Smith held senior sales roles at luxury brands including Minor Hotels, Kempinski Hotels and Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels.

Joali Maldives comprises two properties in the Raa Atoll: Joali Maldives, on the island of Muravandhoo, and wellness-focused sister property Joali Being, on the island of Bodufushi.

Smith said: “I am thrilled to join such an illustrious brand and the Joali UK-based team. I have recently returned from the Maldives and was so impressed by Joali and Joali Being, which both offer a unique concept in the ultra-luxury sphere.

“I am really looking forward to reconnecting with the UK’s luxury travel trade and offering my assistance to further grow to the UK market. There are some exciting new plans for the Joali brand coming soon that I will be sharing in due course. Watch this space.”
