Celebrity Cruises reports demand for luxury bucket list trips

Celebrity Cruises has reported a surge in bookings for luxury bucket list trips for 2022.

The line said it had seen more demand than usual for long-haul itineraries, with consumers planning their dream holidays further in advance and booking twice as far into the future.

Destinations such as Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the Galapagos Islands were proving popular, according to the line.

Its all-suite Galapagos ship, Celebrity Flora, saw record breaking sales in December, while the recent announcement of Celebrity Eclipse returning to Australia and New Zealand for 2022 prompted an increase in bookings combining land experiences with cruises to Melbourne, Auckland and the South Pacific Islands.

Celebrity also reported demand for sailings closer to home, with bookings for European cruises in The Retreat, Celebrity’s all-suite area, doubling in the first six weeks of this year.

“Far-flung destinations are proving more popular than ever, as people look to celebrate those special occasions they may have missed out on in 2020,” said Jo Rzymowska, vice president and managing director EMEA for Celebrity Cruises.

“We’ve been pleasantly surprised by bookings following the news of Celebrity Eclipse’s return Down Under next year, and it just goes to show people are eager to start exploring the world again.

“More than anyone, I can’t wait for the world to reopen. We have all spent so long dreaming, and now it’s time to make our next holiday count.”
