Authority hopes to strengthen relationship with UK trade
The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation (BMOTIA) has launched a travel agents reward programme to strengthen relationships with the UK trade.
The new rewards programme expands on the incentive which applied to bookings for 115 licensed properties across Nassau and Paradise Island, Grand Bahama Island and the Out Islands which gave agents the chance to earn £50 per actualised booking logged on BahamasTravelAgentsRewards.com.
With the new rewards programme, agents from the UK and Channel Islands will be able to earn up to £10 per booking for qualifying bookings for six nights on Nassau and Paradise Island based on double occupancy.
This goes up to £20 per booking for qualifying bookings of a minimum four nights on Grand Bahama Island or any of the Out Islands based on double occupancy.
The initiative will be launched in partnership with online platform My Booking Rewards which connects suppliers to an active network of more than 15,000 UK agents.
Travel agents can register at BahamasTravelAgentsRewards.com for full details of the programme.
British Airways flies daily from London to the Bahamas, and Virgin Atlantic twice a week from major UK cities via the US and Canada.
Latia Duncombe, director general of BMOTIA, said: “As a result of well-placed targeted marketing campaigns that have heightened The Bahamas’ visibility in the UK, consumer desire for travel to our islands is at an all-time high.
“Scheduled direct non-stop daily flights from the UK makes getting to our destination easy and hassle-free. Now, the launch of this new travel agent rewards programme provides travel professionals with a larger base of hotel properties across The Bahamas to work with and greater incentives to book travel to our islands.”
Bahamas deputy prime minister and minister for tourism, investments and aviation, Isaac Chester Cooper, said that the partnership with the UK travel agent community has been “key to the steady growth of tourism” of the Bahamas.
He added: “With the launch of the Bahamas Travel Agents Rewards Programme today, we aim to deepen our relationship with UK travel professionals by making it easier and more rewarding for agents to close bookings to The Bahamas.”
