Avani to open its first Maldives property next month

The first Avani-branded property in the Maldives will open on April 1.

Avani+ Fares Maldives Resort is set on the island of Fares at the western edge of the Baa atoll and is reachable within 35 minutes of Velana International Airport.

The new-build resort features 176 rooms including two, three and four-bedroom beach pavilions and two and three-bedroom over-water villas.

‘Tribal-themed’ rooms feature indoor-outdoor living, private swimming pools and sun decks.

Elsewhere, guests will find seven bars and restaurants, a watersports centre, an AvaniFit gym and a contemporary AvaniSpa. The AvaniKids and Teens Club will offer daily programming and outdoor adventures.

Guests will find Maldivian and international cuisine at main restaurant Ocean Terrace and poolside bar Skipjack; grilled dishes at Charcoal; grab-and-go snacks at Hammock in the lobby; and cocktails at Tribe and Smuggler’s Shack, home to the largest collection of rum in the Maldives.

Young guests will also be able to enjoy the destination’s first kids-only restaurant. Organic produce will be sourced from the resort’s mini farm.

One of 61 islands that enjoys the marine protected waters of Baa Atoll’s Unesco Biosphere Reserve, Avani+ Fares Maldives Resort offers 12 individual dive sites, a 220-metre house reef teeming with marine life including turtles and dolphins, and the nearby Fares reef, 600 metres offshore.

Avani+ Fares Maldives Resort marks the sixth hotel in the region for parent company Minor Hotels. The company said the new Avani property “answers global demand for competitively priced escapes without compromise”.
