Atlantis partners with Barbie for ‘immersive’ experience

Atlantis Paradise Island and Mattel have partnered to develop an immersive, Barbie-themed experience to mark the fashion doll’s 65th anniversary on March 9.

Starting on Memorial Day weekend (May 27) and lasting until the end of summer, Barbie Bahamas Beach Vacation: Where Atlantis Dreams Come True will bring a host of Barbie-themed experiences to the Bahamas hotel.

The partnership will feature Barbie-themed guest rooms and suites, Barbie-themed events and more, said an Atlantis spokesperson, who added this will be the “first time” Mattel’s creation has visited the Caribbean and Bahamas.

The attraction will be located in The Royal and set against a backdrop of the “largest open-air marine habitat in the world”, added the spokesperson.

Visitors will be able to explore several immersive playsets filled with “Instagrammable vignettes, activity stations, and themed Barbie doll boxes”, the spokesperson said.

Other features will include a pink carpet which stretches from The Royal’s grand staircase, and a Barbie ball pit.

Atlantis Kids Adventures will offer Barbie-themed experiences such as cooking classes.

“What better way to celebrate Barbie’s 65th anniversary than to create a one-of-a-kind guest experience for the first time ever at Atlantis Paradise Island,” said Julie Freeland, senior director of location-based entertainment at Mattel.

“Atlantis is unmatched in offering top of the line experiences, a commitment to consumers and fans that we deeply value at Mattel.”

Audrey Oswell, president and managing director at Atlantis Paradise Island, said: “Atlantis Paradise Island’s collaboration with the global toy and entertainment company Mattel adds to the resort’s 25-year history in providing world-class, experiential entertainment.”

The collaboration follows the Atlantis Paradise Island’s 25th anniversary year.
