Windstar becomes latest line to eliminate pre-cruise testing

Windstar Cruises is eliminating pre-sailing tests as it becomes the latest line to ease its Covid-19 protocols.

The small ship company will still require passengers to be fully jabbed and show proof of Covid-19 vaccination.

The revised procedures will go into effect for cruises departing on or after September 6 in a move that aligns Windstar with other lines which are relaxing protocols such as Carnival Corporation brands.

All crew working on Windstar’s six ships are fully vaccinated and nearly all of them have received booster shots, according to the US company.

A spokesperson said: “The exception to this new testing procedure is that Windstar must follow the local rules and regulations of all the countries it visits and currently Canada, Greece, Australia and New Zealand – subject to change – still require Covid-19 pre-testing prior to boarding any ship in their respective waters.”

Windstar president Chris Prelog added: “Safety and wellness are our first concern, and these new procedures will simplify the process of sailing with us on a fully vaccinated ship.”

The change was unveiled a day after more Caribbean itineraries were unveiled
