Ultima Collection launches tree planting initiative

Ultima Collection has partnered with non-profit organisation One Tree Planted to expand its programme of corporate social responsibility initiatives.

The brand has committed to planting 10,000 trees across Europe in locations susceptible to deforestation, including Iceland, Scotland, Denmark and Italy.

It will also plant one tree per guest per night at each of its properties, with guests offered the opportunity to top up the donation.

“Ultima Collection prides itself on giving back to the community and the environment and we are continually looking for ways in which we can improve our sustainable initiatives,” said Michala Chatel, managing partner at Ultima Collection.

“Our new partnership with One Tree Planted highlights our commitment to the cause, and we look forward to going above and beyond our pledge in our first year of working with One Tree Planted.”

One Tree Planted founder Matt Hill added: “We are pleased to have secured this partnership with Ultima Collection. We admire the brand’s commitment to environmental sustainability by planting a tree for every night’s stay per guest.

“It is a great example of how hospitality brands can make a positive contribution to our planet.”

Other sustainable initiatives implemented by Ultima Collection include its limited plastic policy, which focuses on removing plastic bathroom amenities, using biodegradable materials where appropriate and removing single-use plastic products.

The brand has also collaborated with Nespresso Professional Suisse, which collects all used Nespresso capsules to recycle and repurpose.

In its Swiss properties, Ultima Collection holds the Minergie label, a registered quality certification for new and refurbished low-energy-consumption buildings in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
