The Peninsula Hotels to open waterfront property in Istanbul next year

The Peninsula Hotels will open a new property in the Turkish city of Istanbul on February 14, 2023.

The Peninsula Istanbul will be set along the banks of the Bosporus Strait in the city’s historic Karaköy district and will form part of a new waterfront revitalisation project called Galataport, which is set to include a promenade, museums, art galleries, restaurants, boutiques and a cruise ship port.

The property will be in walking distance to many of the city’s historic landmarks such as Galata Tower, Galata Bridge, The Hagia Sophia Mosque, The Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace.

The Peninsula Istanbul will feature 177 rooms and suites spread across four waterfront buildings. The majority of accommodation will offer views of the Bosphorus from large windows, balconies or private terraces. Others will include direct access to the property’s gardens, outdoor swimming pool, private boat dock and luxury boutiques.

All rooms will be decorated with bespoke furnishings, original art, modern Turkish design elements like wood and mother-of-pearl inlay, kilim-style carpets and bathrooms clad in Marmara marble.

In-room amenities will include sustainable, custom-fragranced bath products and multi-lingual touchscreen control panels.

The hotel’s top accommodation, the Peninsula Suite, will feature its own hammam, gym and rooftop swimming pool.

Food and beverage options will include a rooftop restaurant and bar offering Turk-Asian cuisine inspired by the gastronomic traditions found across the Silk Road.

Guests will also find a rooftop terrace with views over the Bosphorus and hotel gardens; a main dining room designed to reflect the “confluence” of Asian and Turkish cultures; and The Lobby restaurant, a double-height space with large windows and water views from both the main and mezzanine levels, which will offer the Peninsula’s signature afternoon tea.

The property will also house the Peninsula Spa and Wellness Centre, which will offer hammams, a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, eight private treatment rooms and an “extensive” menu of treatments.

A state-of-the-art fitness centre will provide physical fitness and mindfulness classes and workshops, while a dedicated Wellness Portal in rooms will offer round-the-clock access to wellness programmes like guided exercise routines, aromatherapy, self-care rituals and audio meditations.

The Peninsula Istanbul will also offer destination-specific arts programmes and cultural experiences and proprietary services like Peninsula Time, which allows guests to check in early or late, and PenChat, whereby guests have access to a 24-hour digital concierge.

The property will reportedly celebrate Turkish art and design and will display a handpicked selection of artwork from both renowned and upcoming Turkish artists.
