Scenic to launch new customised submersible

Scenic will unveil its new submersible, Scenic Neptune II, on March 13.

The new Triton vessel has passed its sea trials and safety certifications, and will be delivered for use on board the line’s Discovery Yachts in the upcoming season.

Scenic Neptune II will be deployed for Scenic Eclipse II’s voyages in the South Pacific, Great Barrier Reef and East Antarctica in 2024 and 2025. The submersible features 27-degree panoramic windows and can dive up to 100 metres below the water’s surface.

Scenic’s director of discovery operations, Jason Flesher, said: “Our collaboration with Triton Submarines on the custom design of our new submersible reflects our commitment to continuous innovation and leading the way in ultra-luxury yacht cruising.”

Patrick Lahey, president and co-founder of Triton Submarines, added: “One of our key goals is to progress the development of safe, certified civilian submersibles, and we could not achieve this without the support and collaboration of truly visionary clients like Scenic.”

Scenic Eclipse II will begin its inaugural season on March 13 by sailing across the Pacific from Valparaiso. The Discovery Yacht will also sail through Australia, the Kimberley, Indonesia and New Zealand over the next two years.

In addition to Scenic Neptune II, other discovery experiences on board Scenic Eclipse II include two helicopters, four seabobs and the services of an expert discovery team.

The submersible will also be deployed on future sailings on board Scenic Eclipse II’s sister ship, Scenic Eclipse I.
