Rosa Alpina closes for refurbishment ahead of Aman rebranding

Italian property Rosa Alpina has closed for an extensive refurbishment as it prepares to become a “fully fledged” Aman hotel.

The luxury hotel brand signed a long-term partnership agreement with the property in November 2020, with Aman integrating its marketing services, sales and ground operations under the initial phase of the agreement. Hotel owners the Pizzinini family remain at the helm of the property.

A statement from Aman said: “From today, the serene mountain retreat undergoes an extensive refurbishment to usher in a new era for the illustrious property and is temporarily closed. Reopening for the 2024/5 winter season, the hotel will emerge as a fully-fledged Aman.”

Rosa Alpina opened in 1939 in the village of San Cassiano in the Unesco-listed Dolomite Mountains.

The refurbishment will be overseen by long-time Aman collaborator Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston Architects, who most recently spearheaded the transformation of the Crown Building to become Aman New York.

The redesign will include a complete remodelling of all guestrooms, with the current 52 rooms and suites reduced to 50. Two Presidential Suites will form the most spacious room category alongside the existing Chalet Zeno, a private residence accommodating up to six guests.

The renovation will also introduce a “more diverse and extensive culinary offering”, including the addition of private dining spaces for intimate celebrations.

The property’s wellness space will almost double in size and be reconfigured to incorporate an outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi, as well as a refreshed treatment menu to reflect the new facilities.

Families will be catered to with a specially designed activity centre offering experiences for all ages.
