One&Only to open first Asia property in March 2020

One&Only has confirmed its newest property in Malaysia will open on March 23, 2020.

One&Only Desaru Coast is spread across 128 acres along Malaysia’s south-eastern shoreline and is easily accessible from Singapore - just a two-hour drive by car or via Senai International Airport in Johor.

Designed by the renowned Kerry Hill Architects, it’s made up of 45 self-contained suites in three different categories emulating the traditional Malaysian ‘kampung’ or village. All boast private plunge pools, vast indoor and outdoor spaces and large bathrooms.

In addition, the resort will feature 50 private homes available to own or rent.

The hotel group labelled its first property in Asia a “culinary destination”, offering a number of restaurant and bar options including ‘field-to-fork’ Ambara, Japanese Hoshi and Malaysian-inspired Essential.

It will also feature a spa, mani/pedi studio, activities and watersports hub and children’s club.

“One&Only Desaru Coast will be our first resort in Asia as part of the continued strategic growth of the brand, and Malaysia’s secluded breathtaking coastline and rich regional heritage makes it the perfect location for us to introduce our brand to the region,” said Philippe Zuber, chief operating officer of parent company Kerzner International.

“We look forward to introducing the One&Only experience to the country, offering modern Malaysian elegance, warm and authentic service and the ultimate in ultra-luxury.”

Suites at One&Only Desaru Coast start from USD $835 (plus taxes) per night.
