Mondrian Singapore slated for 2023 as expansion plans ramp up

Accor has confirmed it will open its first Mondrian property in Singapore in 2023.

Mondrian Singapore is slated to be built in the heart of the city’s Duxton Hill neighbourhood, comprising 300 guestrooms and suites.

The luxury hotel will be set across two buildings connected by a landscaped garden deck.

A smaller, three-story building will house the hotel’s premier loft suites and provide a “contemporary take” on Singapore’s shophouse building typology with a terracotta roof and colonial-style window shutters.

A new, contemporary tower building will be the base for the majority of the hotel’s guestrooms, as well as a rooftop pool, bar and signature restaurant.

The property will also feature a speakeasy bar with a hidden entrance.

It will be located 20 minutes from Changi Airport and within walking distance of the city’s business district.

“We are thrilled to bring the iconic Mondrian brand to Singapore’s Duxton Hill neighbourhood,” said Chadi Farhat, chief operating officer of parent company sbe.

“Mondrian is a natural fit for a global destination like Singapore. The property will provide a cultural hub of food and beverage experiences for locals and travellers alike. Mondrian Singapore will be more than a hotel; it will be a destination.”

Sun You Ning, director of Craig Road Property Holdings, which is developing the property, added: “We are excited to debut the Mondrian brand in South East Asia and Singapore with our partner Accor. Mondrian Singapore will provide guests an opportunity to stay in the heart of Duxton Hill, a vibrant heritage conservation area surrounded by Michelin-starred eateries, award winning bars, and iconic retail stores – all within walking distance to the Central Business District.”

Mondrian Singapore is the latest development in Accor’s strategic expansion plan for Mondrian.

The hotel group, which acquired sbe’s hotel brands last year, said it plans to open seven additional Mondrian hotels globally by 2022.

Mondrian Shoreditch London is scheduled to launch in the second quarter of 2021, while Mondrian Bordeaux and Mondrian Cannes in France are set to open in 2022.

Accor also recently announced the launch of Mondrian Gold Coast in 2023 and promised soon-to-be-announced properties in the Dominican Republic, Germany, the Maldives, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, Thailand and Vietnam.
