Mandarin Oriental to open third property in Vietnam

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has revealed plans to open its third property in Vietnam in 2026.

The group will manage a resort with branded residences in the Phu Yen province, one of Vietnam’s coastal regions known for its natural beauty.

Mandarin Oriental, Bai Nom will sit on an 800-metre beach surrounded by raised plateaus with views of the coastline and ocean. The architecture and design will incorporate natural Vietnamese elements and local cultural references. The brand said the owner and Mandarin Oriental are “working together” to ensure the resort is designed and developed in a responsible way.

The property will feature 72 suites and villas, including 25 Residences at Mandarin Oriental - all of which will be spread out across the 29-hectare site. Guest accommodation will be located directly on the beach and dotted through the hills, featuring private terraces and pools.

Mandarin Oriental, Bai Nom will offer three restaurant and bars, all with views of the surrounding nature.

A Mandarin Oriental Spa will be found on the resort’s cliff top, offering 360-degree views. The space will boast indoor and outdoor heat and ‘wet’ experiences, a 30-metre lap pool and a sunset pavilion for healthy refreshments. The spa will also offer the group’s signature wellness therapies and treatments alongside a variety of personalised or group-based practices, including yoga, mediation, fitness training and nutritional guidance.

Mandarin Oriental said the location and design of the resort would provide “a perfect backdrop for a wide variety of personalised experiences, encompassing wellness retreats, cultural exploration and family-focused activities”.

Guests will be able to try watersports, outdoor aventure and local excursions to private coves, dive sites and hiking locations. There will also be tradtional and Padel tennis courts.

A Children’s Club will feature a dedicated swimming pool and an activity centre offering outdoor adventure spaces.

“We are excited to be bringing Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service to what promises to be a world class resort and we are delighted to be working with our partners who share the same strong commitment to responsible tourism,” said James Riley, group chief executive of Mandarin Oriental.

“The project will complement our two hotels under development in Saigon and Da Nang. This will provide our fans with an opportunity to experience three diverse and fascinating aspects of Vietnam.”

Peter Ryder, chief executive of real estate, financial services and capital markets company Indochina Capital, which has partnered with Mandarin Oriental on the project, added: “We look forward to working with Mandarin Oriental on creating a unique property in a stunning pristine location with an unrivalled offering of exceptional experiences.

“It is a pleasure to partner with one of the most prestigious brands in luxury hospitality and we look forward to offering our guests an extraordinary leisure destination where they can explore the beauty of Vietnam and relax with the renowned service of Mandarin Oriental.”
