Mandarin Oriental to develop luxury resort in Sardinia

Mandarin Oriental is to develop a new luxury resort in Sardinia.

Mandarin Oriental, Porto Cervo will include 83 rooms and suites in the north-east of the island in Costa Smeralda.

The property, including access to a private beach, is due to open in 2026 as the group’s fourth venture in Italy.

Five restaurants and bars, a spa, fitness centre and indoor and outdoor swimming pools will be among the features.

The resort is being developed in partnership with Italian real estate firm Gruppo Statuto, which was also involved in the Mandarin Oriental in Milan.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group chief development officer Francesco Cefalu said: “Costa Smeralda’s unique allure, combined with the expertise of Gruppo Statuto, promises to create an extraordinary retreat.

“We look forward to delivering Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service and refined luxury to this captivating corner of Italy.”

Giuseppe Statuto, owner of Gruppo Statuto, added: “We are pleased to be working with Mandarin Oriental once again and look forward to creating an exceptional resort, delivering a new high-end hospitality offering in this very special corner of Sardinia, one of Italy’s top island destinations.”
