Lux Resorts opens riverside property in southern China

Lux Resorts and Hotels has opened a 56-key property in the Guangxi region of southern China.

Lux Chongzuo, Guangxi Resort and Villas is located on the edge of the Mingshi river in a county called Daxin, surrounded by tropical forest and views of the South China Karst mountain range.

It is less than a two-hour drive from the Nonggang Nature Reserve - where critically endangered white-headed langurs reside – and a 30-minute drive from Asia’s largest transnational waterfall, the Detian Waterfall.

The property is home to 56 suites and villas with private, river-facing terraces and plunge pools, as well as two restaurants, three bars, a Lux Me spa and fitness area and a kids' club.

The brand said the property had been designed to integrate with its natural surroundings, featuring a natural colour palette, stone and wood materials and accents of copper.

The opening marks the first international luxury resort in the county and the beginning of the hotel group’s expansion plans in Asia.

“We are very excited to launch Lux Resorts & Hotels’ first ultra-luxury property in China in partnership with owning company, Guangxi Daxin Mingshi Yijing Tourism Development Co. Ltd,” said Paul Jones, chief executive of parent company The Lux Collective.

“The extraordinary location coupled with world-class facilities will provide guests with an exclusive sanctuary to experience true luxury – time to enjoy the art of slow travel and to connect meaningfully with the local community, culture, food and music.”

Lux Resorts and Hotels has properties across Mauritius, Maldives, Reunion, Vietnam and France.

Room rates at Lux Chongzuo, Guangxi Resort and Villas start from £430 per night on a B&B basis.
