Lux Resorts and Hotels expands Tea Horse Road collection

Lux Resorts and Hotels has expanded its Lux Tea Horse Road China collection with the addition of Lux Tea Horse Road Dali.

The seventh property in the collection, which plots the historic trade route connecting southern China with eastern Tibet, opens this month.

Lux Tea Horse Road Dali is located in Dali, a city in China’s southwestern Yunnan province, and sits between the Gang Mountains and Erhai Lake, one of China’s largest freshwater lakes.

The hotel's 158 rooms span seven categories and feature full-length windows and natural wood furnishings.

The main restaurant is Bai’s Kitchen, where executive chef Stone Xie serves traditional Yunnan cuisine and regional Chinese dishes alongside pressed juices, fruits and healthy bites.

Cafe Lux offers premium blend coffee and freshly baked French and Italian desserts and pastries; the Junxiu Tea Lounge centres around local Pu’er tea; and The View Bar offers craft cocktails, whiskeys and a curated list of international wines.

Other facilities include the Lux Me Spa, which specialises in tea-inspired treatments and features an indoor swimming pool and a 24-hour gym.

Nearby, guests can explore the 1,800-year-old Three Pagodas and the Ancient Town, dating from the Ming Dynasty in the 12th century, both of which are a 15-minute walk from the hotel.

Active guests can also head for a round of golf at the city’s only international 18-hole course, Dali Stone Mountain Golf Club, which is a 10-minute drive from the hotel.

Paul Jones, chief executive of The Lux Collective, said: “We could not be more excited to introduce this hotel to the community, set within a mixed-use development, that will elevate a traveller’s experience in this vibrant city.

“Our collection of boutique retreats and hotels along the Tea Horse Road will provide the culturally-curious a wonderful off-grid adventure.”

Other properties in the Lux Tea Horse Road China collection include Lux Benzilan, Lux Lijiang, Lux Peach Valley, Lux Sangushui, Lux Stone Town and Lux Daju Village.

Lux Shangri-La and Lux Puer are scheduled to open soon.
