Baillie Lodges expands into New Zealand with acquisition of Huka Lodge

Australian luxury property collection Baillie Lodges has acquired Huka Lodge in New Zealand.

Located near Taupo, the 26-suite Huka Lodge sits on 17 acres alongside the Waikato River.

The deal, confirmed this week, is the company’s second international acquisition, having bought Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge in Vancouver Island, Canada in November last year.

A post on Huka Lodge’s Instagram page said: “Big news today: we are delighted to announce Huka Lodge has joined Baillie Bodges, the globally-acclaimed Australia-based collection of luxury lodges. Our wonderful team of dedicated staff led by general manager Kerry Molloy are staying on and will continue to provide the lodge’s trademark personal service. Furthermore, our loyal guests can expect the transfer of ownership to preserve the exceptional experience and unique Kiwi sense of place.”

Baillie Lodges also owns Capella Lodge, Longitude 131, Silky Oaks Lodge and Southern Ocean Lodge, the latter of which was ravaged by a fire in January last year.

Baillie Lodges was acquired in 2019 by an affiliate of KSL Capital Partners, LLC, a leading U.S. investment firm focused solely on investments in travel and leisure businesses.
