Aspire’s parent company Jacobs Media Group is to host a Middle East edition of its new Global Travel Week concept in 2022.
The event will take place in Oman from March 27-30 and will be sponsored by the Oman Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.
The first Global Travel Week – powered by Connections (pictured) is taking place this week at London’s Kia Oval and features targeted business meetings alongside memorable experiences and sessions organised by Jacobs Media Group brands including Travel Weekly, Aspire and Atas.
Global Travel Week Middle East was officially unveiled at a private dinner on Monday by Maitha Al Mahrouqi, undersecretary of Oman Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.
She said: “There is no doubt that organising Global Travel Week has contributed to building and reviving the tourism movement, which will help decrease the pandemic economic impact and eventually revive the competitiveness of this sector.
“By hosting Global Travel Week in the Middle East, we hope to attract the most prominent travel companies that specialise in luxury, leisure and adventure tourism, and help showcase the fascinating and hidden jewels of the Sultanate of Oman.”
Global Travel Week Middle East will expand Jacobs Media Group’s presence in the region, following the launch of the Connecting Travel news and events brand earlier this year.
The company’s chairman, Clive Jacobs, said: “The travel industry’s recovery will require bold thinking and creativity. The creation of Global Travel Week during the pandemic reflected our desire to be at the forefront of facilitating that recovery by connecting business leaders in the travel and hospitality sectors in a way that drives meaningful results, and this partnership with the Sultanate of Oman will allow us to extend those opportunities.”
He added: “We have already recognised the crucial role the Middle East will play in the future of our industry with the launch this year of our Connecting Travel brand, and I am delighted that Global Travel Week Middle East will further strengthen our commitment to supporting the region’s travel and tourism development.”
Global Travel Week powered by Connections will return to The Kia Oval London from September 25-28, 2022.
