Crystal Cruises to stop using plastic straws

Crystal Cruises is to eliminate the use of plastic straws across its fleet.

Paper straws will be available in dining venues on board ships Crystal Symphony, Crystal Serenity and the yacht Crystal Esprit.

New ships will never carry plastic straws, the line announced as part of its Crystal Cares initiative ahead of World Oceans Day on June 8.

“Crystal has always recognised that the world we travel is precious and deserving of our utmost care,” said president and chief executive Tom Wolber. “All measures contributing to the preservation of our marine environments can make a significant impact.

“This initiative, as well as the others under our Crystal Cares programme, ensure that we are continuing our focus of caring for our world in meaningful ways.”
