Conrad Maldives Rangali Island to unveil multi-year renovation

Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is set to reopen in February 2022 after a multi-million dollar refurbishment that began in 2019.

50 of the Overwater Villas at the twin-island resort have been revamped with new interiors, while its three restaurants and bars – Atoll Market, Rangali Bar and Vilu Restaurant – have also been renovated.

The resort has introduced a new Teens Club on family-centric island Rangali-Finolhu, while the existing kids’ club, Majaa Explorer’s Hub, has been enhanced with a new dedicated space that features as part of an expansive complex.

The adult-only Rangali Island will meanwhile unveil a new gym, complementing the existing fitness centre on the main island, while the Overwater Spa has also been reimagined and will offer meditation, massages and other treatments in rooms hovering above the ocean.

The Dive Centre has also been relocated to the water’s edge, providing easier access to diving lessons and excursions.

Carla Puverel, general manager at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, said: “As the ‘Island of Firsts’ we pride ourselves on remaining innovative and offering a level of personalised service unique to our resort. The extensive renovations which began in 2019 demonstrate our commitment to investing in our guest experience which continues to build on our legacy.”

Nils-Arne Schroeder, global brand head at Conrad Hotels & Resorts and vice president for luxury and lifestyle at Hilton, Asia-Pacific, added: “Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is one of the key resorts in our luxury portfolio across Asia Pacific and a shining example of how we bring to life truly inspired experiences across Conrad Hotels & Resorts.
“The amount of investment, time and effort put into enhancing every part of the guest experience alone signifies a commitment by the team to deliver even more authentic and purposeful hospitality to travellers from all around the world.”

The updates will add to existing facilities including Ithaa, the world’s first undersea restaurant, and The MURAKA residence, home of the world’s first underwear bedroom, which opened in 2019.
