Beyond Green to donate 1% of annual sales to environmental causes

Sustainable hotel collection Beyond Green has joined international initiative One Percent for the Planet and committed to donate 1% of its annual sales to support non-profit organisations focused on environmental issues.

Beyond Green was founded in 2021 as a global portfolio of the world’s most sustainable hotels, resorts and lodges. It only partners with properties that have undergone a rigorous vetting process to ensure they align with sustainable tourism standards and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Beyond Green said the decision to join One Percent for the Planet was influenced by an increasing demand among travellers for transparency from the companies they support.

Lindsey Ueberroth, chief executive of Beyond Green’s parent company, Preferred Travel Group, said: “Following our launch, we have sought to connect Beyond Green with likeminded brands for considered partnerships that align with our overall purpose. By working with One Percent for the Planet, we are excited to further fulfil our commitment to supporting environmental causes.”

One Percent for the Planet has more than 6,500 environmental partners in 111 different countries, all of which support an array of urgent environmental and social issues including gender equality, Indigenous land rights, supply chain sustainability, conservation policy and environmental education.

Businesses that partner with One Percent for the Planet can find and support the causes that matter most to them from four areas of impact: Rights to Nature, Conservation and Restoration, Resilient Communities and Just Economies.

“Currently, only 3% of total philanthropy goes to the environment and only 5% of that comes from businesses,” said Kate Williams, chief executive of One Percent for the Planet.

“The planet needs bigger support than this, and our growing network of business members are doing vital work to increase giving and support on-the-ground action. We’re excited to welcome Beyond Green to our global movement.”

By contributing 1% of their annual sales, members of One Percent for the Planet have so far raised more than $530 million in funding for environmental partners around the globe.
