Banyan Tree Group 'on track' to double portfolio with 30 new openings

Hotel brand Banyan Tree Group has said it is "on track" to double its global portfolio after recently announcing its 70th property milestone.

The brand is set to launch a total of 30 new properties as part of an ambitious five-year expansion plan. New hotels are slated to open under the group's Banyan Tree, Banyan Tree Escape, Banyan Tree Veha, Angsana, Homm, Garrya, Dhawa and Cassia brands.

Luxury brand Banyan Tree will welcome Banyan Tree Higashiyama Kyoto in Japan and Banyan Tree Ilha Caldeira in Mozambique next year in spring and winter respectively.

In 2026, Banyan Tree Varko Bay, the brand’s first property in Europe, will open on the Varko Peninsula in Greece.

New properties were unveiled this summer under wellness-focused brand Banyan Tree Veya and Banyan Tree Escape, a ‘no doors, no walls’ eco-luxury concept that debuted last year. These included Banyan Tree Escape Buahan in Bali and Banyan Tree Veya Phuket in Thailand.

Banyan Tree Veya also plans to open a resort in Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico’s premier wine region, in February 2024.

Other openings are scheduled for Angsana, the second Banyan Tree Group brand launched in 2000, which focuses on families and a ‘casual’ take on luxury; urban brand Homm; off-the-beaten-path brand Garrya, which launched in 2021; design-led Dhawa; and Cassia, a Banyan Tree sub-brand offering a hotel residence concept.

In June, Banyan Tree Group surpassed its 70th property milestone following the openings of  Angsana Ho Tram and Dhawa Ho Tramin Vietnam, and Folio Sakura Shinsaibashi Osaka and Homm Stay Yumiha Okinawa in Japan.
