Avalon Waterways to launch new suite-only ship on Rhine

Avalon Waterways plans to launch its 17th suite-only vessel on the Rhine in 2020.

Avalon View will be the second suite-only ship to launch over the next two years following the delivery of Avalon Envision in April this year on the Danube.

Both ships are 443-feet long with two 300-square-feet Royal Suites and 65 200-square feet Panorama Suites on two full decks, plus 16 170-square-feet staterooms.

According to Avalon Waterways, Panorama Suites are 30% larger than standard industry staterooms.

Every Panorama Suite features wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling windows referred to by the line as Open-Air Balconies.

Avalon Affinity, Avalon Felicity and Avalon Luminary, which have fewer than 80% onboard suites, were taken out of service last year.

The move was part of the line’s plans to operate a suite-only fleet this year.

The line’s first Suite Ship – Avalon Panorama – debuted eight years ago.

Janet Parton, Avalon Waterways’ UK & Ireland sales director, said: “Avalon’s entire fleet of ships is comprised of new Suite Ships giving our travellers exclusive access to the industry’s only Open-Air Balconies and beds facing the incredible views for which river cruising is famous.”
