Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of two new Oblu resorts in the Maldives: Oblu Select Lobigili, opening in February 2022, and Oblu Xperience Ailafushi, set to follow in March.
Both are part of a new brand collection, Colours of Oblu, centred around the group’s “Joy of Giving” ethos and targeted at “families, couples, honeymooners or global nomads.”
The two resorts will be located in the North Malé Atoll and accessed by a 15-minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport.
Oblu Select Lobigili will be adults-only, with 67 beach and overwater villas, an underwater restaurant and a secluded, laid-back feel, according to the group.
Oblu Xperience Ailafushi will be home to 268 villas with a focus on the experience; facilities will range from The Dome, a futuristic 3D entertainment centre (opening in July), to La Promenade, offering shops, cafes and more, with dining spots including The Copper Pot Truck, serving fresh seafood alfresco.
Stephane Laguette, chief commercial officer at Atmosphere Hotels and Resorts, said: “We are delighted to announce the official launch of our Colours of Oblu brand.
“Each resort with its own personality and distinct story comes together to form the enchanting Colours of Oblu. An experience collective that awakens the senses, brings balance and provides the gift of a lifetime of memories.”
Alongside the two new openings, the Colours of Oblu collection also features two rebranded resorts; Oblu Select Sangeli (originally opened in 2018) and Oblu Nature Helengeli (opened in 2015).
Atmosphere currently operates six resorts in the Maldives under two other brands, The Ozen Collection and By Atmosphere. The group is due to expand into India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bhutan in the coming years.
