Anantara expands portfolio in the Netherlands

Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas is set to make its Netherlands debut with its first property in the capital city opening in autumn 2021.

The hotel brand will take over a historic building in Dam Square currently operating as NH Collection Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky.

Anantara will oversee a soft refurbishment of the property, upgrading some of the guest rooms and suites and the garden. A new gym and spa will be added, featuring specialised treatment rooms, a sauna and a hammam.

When the rebrand is complete, the 402-room property will be known as Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky.

Three food and beverage options will be available, including the Michelin-starred The White Room; Grand Cafe Krasnapolsky and cocktail bar The Tailor - its name a reference to the Polish tailor, Adolph Wilhelm Krasnapolsky, who opened a tiny coffee house on the site in 1866.

The property also features a private pier for boats on the Oudezijds Voorburgwal Canal and 16 meeting rooms, including the Wintergarden, a 19th-century glass-covered garden.

“We are delighted to be continuing the expansion of our luxury Anantara brand in Europe with the addition of Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam,” said Dillip Rajakarier, group chief executive of Minor International, parent company of Anantara.

“The historic hotel will be a fantastic addition to the Anantara portfolio when it joins later this year after enhancements to the property and represents an exciting milestone for the brand as the first in Northern Europe.”

Anantara is set to continue its expansion in Europe later this year with the rebrand of two hotels in Italy and Hungary. Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Rome and Anantara New York Palace Budapest will join the brand in the fourth quarter of 2021.

Existing European hotels include Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort on the southern coast of Portugal and Anantara Villa Padierna Palace in Marbella, Spain.
