Aman confirms opening date of New York hotel

Aman has confirmed its much-anticipated New York property will open on August 2, 2022, with reservations opening on July 25.

The 83-suite hotel is situated on the corner of 57th Street and Fifth Avenue in the 100-year-old Crown Building, which has undergone an extensive renovation.

Suites are inspired by Aman’s properties in south-east Asia and offer functioning fireplaces, murals by contemporary Japanese artist Ryoko Adachi and bathrooms with oval soaking bathtubs, marble rain showers and double vanities.

On the building’s 11th and 12th floors are 11 Grand Suites which can be configured with additional bedrooms to create family-size spaces.

Two Aman Suites feature living and dining areas with tables for six, kitchenettes with counter seating and large walk-in wardrobes. The property also features 22 branded residences.

Restaurants at Aman New York include Italian eatery Arva; a Wine Library; and Nama, Aman’s take on Japan’s washoku dining tradition which features a Japanese Hinoki wood counter for omakase-style fine dining.

All food and beverage venues are lined by a wraparound Garden Terrace, which features fire pits, pools, and a retracting glass roof for year-round access.

The property also features an exclusive Jazz Club offering live performances and a three-storey Aman Spa, home to an indoor swimming pool; two Spa Houses with double treatment rooms, Banya and Hammam rooms; and private outdoor terraces with hot and cold plunge pools, daybed and fireplaces.

Aman New York is the brand’s second urban property and its 34th worldwide. The hotel joins Amangani in Wyoming and Amangiri in Utah as the brand’s third destination in the United States, with the trio soon to be joined by Aman Miami in 2024.

Aman chairman and chief executive Vlad Doronin said: “Following the success of the multi-award-winning Aman Tokyo, our strategy to bring the coveted Aman lifestyle to urban destinations continues apace.

“A milestone opening, Aman New York marks our greatest investment into a single destination to date. The hotel introduces an entirely new concept to the city through expansive and unmatched amenities, which propels the brand forward, delivering a guest experience like no other.”
