Virgin Voyages launches search for two UK sales managers
Virgin Voyages is recruiting for two UK-based sales managers due to the line’s “incredible response” from travel agents.
Its first ship – Scarlet Lady – will launch in 2020 with Virgin Voyages’ first-ever programme to go on general sale on February 14.
Last year, Stacy Shaw, Virgin Voyages’ vice president of sales and business development, said it was a “challenge” to get the message across that it wants agents to sell its sailings.
In 2015, Virgin Holidays became a direct-sell-only brand after it cut ties with the UK trade and that decision has had repercussions for the brand’s cruise line.
However, Virgin Voyages’ director of UK sales Shane Lewis-Riley said the decision to recruit two sales managers had been prompted by excitement within the trade surrounding the line.
He tweeted: “We’re looking for rock stars who think outside of cruise industry norms to look after our First Mates in a fresh, modern and very Virgin way.
“If you think this sounds like you…we might have the right gig for you, based right here in the UK.”
The job description, posted on LinkedIn, says the role will “be front and centre with our valued travel agency partners”, known by the line as First Mates.
The successful candidates will be “a strong vibrant communicator” and have an “undeniable passion” for people and travel.
