Three former World Travel Lounge shops renamed Protected Travel Shop

Three former World Travel Lounge agencies have been rebranded Protected Travel Shop following a change in ownership.

The agencies in Cleveleys, Fleetwood and Leyland were previously owned by Book in Style, which trades as World Travel Lounge.

New fascias with the new Protected Travel Shop branding have now been put up on the shops.

In January, Protected Travel Services, a sister company to Protected Trust Services (PTS), took over the shops and employed its 16 staff.

Book in Style was previously a member of PTS but its membership was terminated because it no longer met the required criteria. All bookings are now being protected by PTS and fulfilled by Protected Travel Services.

PTS had originally planned to brand the shops NW Travel.

However, they now come under the brand Protected Travel Services, trading as Protected Travel Shop.

PTS switched its name from Protected Travel Services to Protected Trust Services in 2017 but has retained the Protected Travel Services name.

Mark Sutton, managing director, PTS, said: “We had the name Protected Travel Services already and we decided to go with the group name rather than the regional name of NW Travel.”

The shops have continued to trade as normal since the ownership change, he added.

Scott Tyrer, who was previously operations director of Book in Style’s operator Chillimix, is commercial manager for Protected Travel Shop, and Jo Holloway is area sales manager.

The tour operator Odisea, which was the shops’ inhouse dynamic packaging brand and was also taken over in January, has also been kept on.
