The Other House to open second residents’ club in London

Hotel and residents’ club The Other House has revealed plans to open a second outpost in London.

Building works have started on The Other House Convent Garden, which will be located in Wellington Block, moments from the famous piazza. It is scheduled to open in 2024.

The brand – whose first property, The Other House South Kensington, opened in July 2022 – has once again partnered with construction firm Ellmer, architects Falconer Chester Hall and interior designers Bergman Design House to deliver the upcoming project.

The property is made up of seven separate historic buildings, including a former rectory. Plans include creating an inner-glazed atrium and to add three floors, affording guests prime views across central London.

Once complete, the property will feature the brand’s signature Club Flats, destination cocktail bar The Owl & Monkey, casual street cafe The Other Kitchen, and a rooftop bar with views across the city. The Private Club for residents and members will offer private bars, a dining area and wellbeing retreat The Other Space, which will boast a vitality pool, treatment area and high-tech gym.

The Other House said its latest property “promises to deliver bold, distinctive design, state-of-the-art facilities and a commitment to sustainability, from the ground up”.

Founder and chief executive Naomi Heaton said: “We are delighted to have appointed Ellmer as our construction partner for The Other House Covent Garden. With their outstanding portfolio of luxury hotels and residential apartments, and an industry-wide reputation for delivering projects to the highest standards, they are a natural fit for such a painstaking and ambitious project.

“Our Covent Garden site embodies everything we want to achieve – sensitively restoring a historic space in prime central London and transforming it into something that truly caters for the eco-conscious, global traveller and the local community.  It’s thrilling to see construction now underway.”

The chief executive of Ellmer Construction, Michael Byrne, added: "Ellmer Construction is privileged to have been awarded the construction project of The Other House Covent Garden. We are excited to have begun on site and look forward to working collaboratively with the team to ensure successful delivery of this prestigious and innovative project, and thank The Other House for the trust they have put in Ellmer Construction as their construction partner."
