Scenic Eclipse sets sail to Rotterdam to meet UK agents

Eclipse is en route to Rotterdam where 25 UK agents will have a sneak-preview of the vessel ahead of its maiden voyage.

The agents will travel on Saturday to see the ship – described by the line as the world’s first discovery yacht – in the Netherlands before it sails on to Reykjavik, Iceland, ahead of its maiden voyage on August 15.

The inaugural voyage is a 13-day sailing to Quebec, Canada, via Greenland.

Scenic is hosting VIP screening evenings in London and Manchester on August 15 to celebrate the ship’s first revenue voyage.

Five travel agents and partners have been invited to New York for the vessel’s christening in September.

Scenic has released footage of the final tests and trials of the onboard Airbus H130 helicopters.

The clip shows the helicopters landing on the deck of Scenic Eclipse and being stored in the hangars on board.

Scenic founder and chairman, Glen Moroney, said: “These final stages are significant highlights in any ship build.

“I’m very proud to say Scenic Eclipse has been successfully certified for passenger ship operations, has been officially registered, and we are now in the final stages of preparations for our inaugural voyage.”

The 228-passenger ship, which also has a six-passenger submarine Scenic Neptune, completed its first sea trials along the Croatian coastline in June.
