Qatar unveils new online training for trade

Qatar Tourism has launched its new online training programme, replacing the established Tawash programme and offering trade partners “the relevant knowledge and tools to promote and sell Qatar internationally more effectively”.

The tourism board revealed plans to launch the new programme in May and hopes the trade engagement will help boost visitor numbers to the country on the back of the Fifa World Cup later this year.

The new programme comprises of different modules, available in 11 languages, each focusing on a particular aspect of Qatar’s tourism offering – history, heritage, attractions and experiences.

Agents can complete modules “at their own pace” with interactive maps and quizzes used to help increase knowledge.

Those who complete the full course will receive Qatar Specialist benefits and receive insider tips, itineraries and the latest information on accommodation and attractions.

They can register for the Qatar Specialist Programme at qatarspecialist.qa.

Vice president of international markets, Philip Dickinson, said: “The Qatar Specialist Programme is another step towards supporting the global travel trade industry in working alongside Qatar Tourism to help drive significant growth in annual international visitor arrivals and welcoming six million visitors a year by 2030.”
